Training: Relution MDM – iOS Edu Standard
Overview
This training covers the fundamentals of running iPads in an educational environment with Relution. From connecting Apple School Manager and enrolling devices through to configuring policies, users, and classes, participants learn the complete workflow needed to set up and manage an iOS environment in a school independently. It concludes with an introduction to Apple Classroom and Relution Teacher for classroom use.
Target Audience
Administrators, IT staff at schools and school authorities, and service providers who manage iOS devices in an educational context with Relution.
Duration and Format
Approx. 90–120 minutes, delivered online via Microsoft Teams.
Learning Objectives
After the training, participants will be able to
- connect Apple School Manager to Relution and use ADE and VPP,
- enroll devices manually and automatically,
- create policies and device groups and assign them in a targeted way,
- manage users and classes manually and via CSV import,
- set up Shared iPad scenarios, and
- place Apple Classroom and Relution Teacher in context.
Agenda
Training Content
1. Apple School Manager: ADE (DEP) and Apps & Books (VPP) – Basics
Basic understanding of Apple School Manager and its role in combination with Relution. Setting up Automated Device Enrollment (ADE/DEP) as well as procuring and assigning apps and books via VPP, including server tokens and linking to the Relution instance.
2. Device Enrollment
Manual enrollment compared to automatic enrollment via ADE. Differences, prerequisites, and typical use cases in school operations.
3. Actions
Overview of available device actions in Relution (e.g. lock, wipe, messages, app management) and their targeted use in day-to-day operations.
4. Policies and Device Groups
4.1 Creating and configuring device groups and policies
Policies:
- App compliance – Defining allowed or required apps and handling deviations
- Wi-Fi – Configuring network profiles for school use
- Wallpaper – Assigning lock and home screen wallpapers
- Restrictions – Limiting device functions for classroom use
- Passcode – Requirements for device passcode and complexity
- Home screen layout – Predefined arrangement of apps and folders
- Relution Shared Device & Shared iPad – Setting up shared devices for a class set
Device groups:
- Static and dynamic – Manual assignment compared to rule-based, automatic grouping and its effect on policy assignment
5. Users & Classes
- Creating users (manually) – Adding and managing individual user accounts
- CSV import of users and classes – Bulk import, structure of the import file, and common pitfalls
6. Apple Classroom and Relution Teacher Basics
Placing Apple Classroom and Relution Teacher as tools for teachers in context: how they interact with the previously configured classes and devices, and basic control options during lessons.
